THIS IS A TUMBLR

Alex likes to design/watch/read/play/discuss things.

I started a Dynasty Fantasy Football league this year as an excuse to work on a large design project in my free time.

Eventually it’ll be a 12-team league with a team from each of the Midwestern states. Each team will have their own unique identities, uniforms, and merchandise. On top of that, I’ll be putting together a yearbook at the end of the year with season recaps and the like.

For now I just have the main & initials logo for the league finished. Next up is my team’s identity (I gave myself priority since I’m doing all the work). This should be an interesting few months.

I just finished up volume 8 of Atomic Robo and it continues to perplex me how it’s not more popular than it is.

In a nutshell, Atomic Robo, the world’s first “automatic intelligence” was created by Tesla in the 1920’s. Because he’s continually upgraded himself over time, his various adventures have covered a span of time from his creation to the present day (secret WWII & NASA projects included). Since 1943, he’s been in charge of Tesladyne Industries and it’s elite group of Action Scientists, dedicated to combat weirdness around the globe.

You can read the first issue of Volume One (“Atomic Robo & the Fightin’ Scientists of Tesladyne”)  as well as a bunch of other one-offs and their entire selection of “Free Comic Book Day” issues at the link above.

Bring Reading Rainbow Back for Every Child, Everywhere.

If you grew up with and appreciated Reading Rainbow, please help make sure that all other kids will have the same opportunity. A little goes a long way.

When I think of tense, gripping spy thrillers, I think of Paul F. Tompkins.

Even though it’s Star Wars Day, I decided now was the best time to jump into a new universe.

With how much I love last year’s Asymmetry, it’s easy to forget how good Karnivool’s previous album, Sound Awake, is too.

Alberto Mazza is a fantastic illustrator, designer & photographer based out of Milan, Italy. His tumblr features some of  his past illustrations. If you like like what you see, you can probably find it as a print or something else on his Society6 store.

Miroist released their first full-length album a few weeks ago. It’s a little more atmospheric than I was hoping for, but overall I really enjoy it.

I’m sort of ashamed to admit I haven’t read much Bradbury. I should fix that. He’s delightful.
